Shipping & Returns

Last updated: 27 July 2026

We are a two person workshop in Dublin. Everything is printed to order and posted by An Post. Here is exactly what that means for your order.

At a glance

Full details below.

When your order is posted

Maps from the collection are printed and dispatched within 2 to 3 business days of your order.

Custom maps take a little longer, because we design them first: we email you a render for approval within 24 to 48 hours, and once you approve it we print and post within 2 to 3 business days. Nothing is printed until you have told us the design is right.

What shipping costs

Shipping is charged at cost. We pay An Post and you pay what we pay, worked out from the weight of your parcel and where it is going. You will see the exact amount in your cart before you pay anything.

All our prices come straight from the An Post Guide to Postal Rates, with nothing added. Northern Ireland counts as domestic for An Post, so it is the same €3.50 as the Republic. A packed map is flat enough for a padded envelope, which An Post charges much less for than a boxed parcel, and the price then depends on weight: a 10 × 15 map goes in the cheaper band, a 20 × 25 one is heavier. Ordering several maps together is nearly always cheaper than ordering them one at a time, because they travel in the same parcel.

Delivery times are An Post estimates, not guarantees, and they do not include the time it takes us to make your map.

Tracking

Every order comes with a choice at checkout: standard post, or tracked so you can follow it and it needs a signature. Worth it for a framed map or a gift you cannot afford to lose.

On the island of Ireland tracking is €10.00 flat. Abroad we use An Post Express Post and charge what they charge us, which starts at €15.00 to Great Britain and Europe, €20.00 to the US and Canada and €28.00 to Australia. The exact price is in your cart before you pay.

Standard post is reliable and keeps the price down, but it carries no tracking number and no compensation if it goes astray. One exception: a parcel over 2kg going abroad has no tracked option, because An Post does not run Express at that weight. That is around four framed maps in one order, and if you are sending that much, email us first.

Customs and import charges

Orders going outside the European Union (currently Great Britain, the United States, Canada and Australia) are charged import duty, tax and usually a carrier handling fee when they arrive. Northern Ireland is the exception: it stays inside the EU single market for goods, so a parcel from us clears no customs and there is nothing to pay on arrival. These are set by your own government, not by us. They are not included in what you pay us, we receive none of the money, and paying them is your responsibility as the importer.

Ordering from the United States? Please read this.

The duty free allowance for low value parcels entering the US ended on 29 August 2025. Every parcel is now assessed for duty no matter how little it is worth. Goods made in Ireland currently attract about 15 percent of the value of the goods, and the delivery carrier adds its own fee for collecting it.

In practice: expect roughly 15 to 25 US dollars payable on arrival for a typical map, before the parcel is released to you. This is separate from the postage you pay us, and it applies even though you have already paid for shipping.

We declare the true description and the true value of every parcel on its customs form. We will not undervalue a shipment or mark it as a gift to reduce your duty. That is customs fraud and the liability for it is ours.

If a parcel comes back to us because the import charges were not paid, we refund the price of the map once it reaches us, but not the original postage or the cost of its return. Custom maps cannot be refunded in that situation, because we cannot resell them. So please be sure you are happy to pay the import charges before ordering from outside the EU.

If something arrives broken or wrong

Email hello@gramaps.com with a photo and we will replace it or refund you in full, including the postage you paid. You will not be asked to pay to return a faulty map. This is on us, not you.

Tell us as soon as you reasonably can, ideally within a few days, because it helps us work out whether the damage happened in transit. But this is not a deadline: under Irish and EU consumer law goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and those rights last far longer than 14 days. Nothing on this page shortens them.

Changing your mind

If you are in the European Union you have a legal right to cancel most online purchases within 14 days of receiving them, without giving a reason. We apply that to everyone, wherever you are.

To cancel, email hello@gramaps.com within 14 days of receiving your map. Send it back to us in a resaleable condition within 14 days of telling us, and we will refund the price of the map plus the standard outbound postage within 14 days of it reaching us. You pay for the return postage. We would suggest a tracked service, because we can only refund maps that actually arrive back.

Custom maps are the exception

The 14 day right to change your mind does not apply to goods that are made to your specification or clearly personalised. That is exactly what a custom map is: once you approve the design and we print it, it is a one-off object of a place only you asked for, and we cannot sell it to anybody else.

So for custom maps: you can cancel and get a full refund at any point before you approve the design, and by approving the design you are asking us to start making it and giving up the 14 day cancellation right. After that it can only be returned if it arrives faulty or is not what you approved.

This is why we show you the design first, give you 3 rounds of changes free, and only print when you say yes. If you are not sure, ask us for a free preview before you pay anything.

Refunds

Refunds go back to the card or payment method you paid with, through Stripe. Once we send it, banks usually take 5 to 10 business days to show it on your statement.

Wrong address

We post to the address you enter at checkout. If it is wrong, email us straight away and if the parcel has not gone out yet we will fix it for free. Once it is posted we cannot recall it, and a reshipment would need to be paid for again.

Questions

Email hello@gramaps.com. We are Ruth and Carlos and we answer our own emails, usually within a day.
